Something New Is Taking Root

At Roots of Liberty Farm, we're working toward something we've wanted to see for a long time: a cattle type designed specifically for the American homestead family.

Our goal is to bring together the qualities that make several heritage breeds exceptional, then carefully select over generations for the traits that matter most on a small farm:

manageable size • calm temperament • efficient forage • easy calving • strong maternal ability • hardiness • natural parasite resistance • quality beef • and, importantly, no horns.

We're calling this Project: Genesis.

The cattle we're working with today are the beginning, not the finished product. Over the next several generations, we'll be evaluating, selecting, and refining the genetics until we have a consistent type of cattle that can reliably reproduce the qualities we're looking for.

It won't happen overnight.

But if we do it right, we're hoping to develop something genuinely new for the American homestead cattle market.
