Roots of Liberty Farm is a small, family-run homestead in western Pennsylvania, where we raise a herd of Dexter, Jersey, and Angus cattle alongside a flock of Shetland sheep on rotational pastures to promote soil health and sustainable grazing. We aim to produce wholesome food and healthy livestock while building a legacy of freedom and resilience for generations to come.

Shane Santiago

As the FAFO (Farm Affairs & Financial Officer) of the operation, Shane steers the farm’s long-term vision, financial health, and innovative edge. He serves as the principal steward of investment revenue, carefully identifying and managing opportunities, from equipment upgrades and land enhancements to diversified enterprises. Shane oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, cash flow, expense tracking, sales, tax compliance, while monitoring farm-wide productivity, profitability, soil health, water efficiency, and operational excellence. With a sharp eye on both numbers and natural systems, he ensures every decision aligns with the farm’s mission of resilience, independence, and responsible stewardship.

Shane is equally passionate about pioneering sustainable and off-grid practices that strengthen the land and reduce external dependencies. Through this blend of strategic leadership, innovative farming, and community engagement, Shane turns vision into thriving reality across every acre.

Management, Acquisitions & Field Operations

Jennifer Santiago

As the MAFO (Management, Acquisitions & Field Operations) at Roots of Liberty Farm LLC, Jennie serves as the hands-on operational powerhouse, turning strategic vision into daily reality. Jennie manages animal procurement and integration, monitors herd health, behavior, and welfare, and handles procurement of feed, medicines, water catchment supplies, tools, and equipment, always negotiating smart deals with vendors to balance quality and cost.

With a collaborative spirit and deep practical know-how, Jennie fosters strong vendor and client relationships, supports daily farm tasks like feeding and upkeep, and contributes to branding and marketing outreach. Jennie also lends her skills to maintenance and the implementation of off-grid innovations, ensuring smooth execution across every facet of farm life. Her organized, boots-on-the-ground approach drives growth and keeps the operation thriving as a model of resilient, liberty-minded agriculture. Jennie's energy and expertise keep the farm moving forward—one thoughtful decision and one well-tended acre at a time.
